In my artistic practice, the drive to communicate and commemorate experience has taken center stage.

Timmie Emmons keeps her scrapbooks by the window. In case of fire she can break the glass from the outside and rescue them. One year, when her photos came out too dark, she redecorated the house, rewrapped the presents, dressed her daughter back up in her special outfit and restaged Christmas with the proper lighting.

It's the point at which the process of commemoration begins to dwarf the original experience that fascinates me.
